Progesterone is a one type of female hormone and this medicine is similar to hormone that your body makes. Generally this medicine is given when human body cannot make enough natural hormones. This medicine is used for women who are not pregnant and not at the stage of menopause, to restore normal periods that have stopped because of amenorrhea. It is used with combination of many therapies (hormone replacement) to reduce effect of menopause. It is also used to decrease risk of uterus cancer. This medicine must not used for children and for pregnancy test.
Use
This medicine as per suggested by your doctor. Generally taken by mouth, at night once in a day. Take this medicine with glass of water. Follow the dose schedule and read all the information provided with medicine leaflet. Consult your doctor if you have any queries or problem.
Side Effects
Following side effect may occur with the use of given medications
Headache, breast tenderness, nausea, vaginal discharge, dizziness, bloating, fever, seizure, tiredness or diarrhea may occur. Inform your doctor immediately, if you feel any of the given side effects worsen. Your doctor has prescribed this medicine because he judged that benefits of this medicine are more than the risk of side effects. Many patients are not feeling any side effects while using this medication. Tell your doctor right away if you observe any serious side effects such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, and breast lumps, dark or painful urine or mood change.
Precautions
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor about allergies of this medicine or any other allergies of inactive ingredients. If you have medical history of liver disease, breast cancer, recent heart attack, vaginal bleeding, missed pregnancy, high blood pressure, headache migraine, asthma, diabetes or blood clots then informs your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine can make you dizzy so do not do any activity that requires attention.
