Esomeprazole 40 mg+ Domperidone 30 mg SR
It is a proton pump inhibitors that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+ ATPase in the gastric parietal cell.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combine with appropriate antibacterial regimens. Healing and maintenance of erosive oesophagitis.
Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
Reduced dose in hepatic insufficiency. Should be taken one hour before meals.
Headache, flatulence, Dry mouth, alkaline phosphatase.
Esomeprazole may interfere with the absorption of drug where gastric PH is an important determinant of bioavailability e.g. ketoconazole, iron salts and digoxin.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, healing of erosive esophagitis: 20 mg or 40 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. Maintenance of healing of erosive oesophagitis: 20 mg once daily. Symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks. H-pylori eradication to reduce the risk of duodenal with amoxicillin, 11g twice daily and clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for 10 days.
Powerful dopamine antagonist having antiemetic activity. It increases gastric emptying and shortens the stay of liquids. Semisolids and solid in the stomach.
Acute nausea and vomiting, reflux oesophagitis. Dyspepsia, Peptic ulcer, uremia.
GI obstructions of perforation epilepsy, pheochromocytoma, extrapyramidal symptoms.
Beneficial effects of domperidone may be antagonised by anticholinergic drug. Renal impairment.
Galactorrhoea in females and gynaecomastia in males due to increased production of prolactin.
Digoxin: Decreased absorption of digoxin, Aspirin, Paracetamol and oral diazepam: Increased absorption of these drugs. Anticholinergic drug: Effect of domperidone antagonised. Phenothiazines: Increased CNS depression.
10-20 mg every 4-8 hours. Children 0.3 mg/kg body weight 3-4 times daily. Before meals and bedtime.
