Paracetamol 125 mg + Mefenamic acid 50 mg
It is a low efficacy drug, has both peripheral and central analgesic action. Its most important and adverse effects are diarrhoea & Haemolytic.
Painful musculoskeletal conditions including low back pain, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, Chronic Juvenile Arthritis, Trauma, Dental Conditions, Dysmenorrhoea.
250-500 mg t.i.d.
Paracetamol is a valuable central analgesic. It acts on CNS to produce analgesic effects. It has negligible anti inflammatory action in therapeutic dose. It does not stimulate respiration, alter acid base balance, causes less gastric irritation, have no effect on cellular metabolism or clotting factors, it is not uricosuric.
Pain, fever
Analgesic nephropathy.
Renal and hepatic impairment.
Epigastric distress, nausea, rashes, leukopenia is rare.
Cholestyramine, charcoal activated administered immediately reduce domperidone & metoclopramide – enhance absorption of paracetamol. Alcohol – chronic excessive ingestion of alcohol potentiates hepatotoxicity of paracetamol zidovudine – effect of zidovudine may be decreased.
Adults : 0.5-1.0gm. 3-6 times daily maximum 4gm.
Children : 15mg/kg/dose or 60 mg/kg/24 hours divided every 6 hours. Maximum 5 doses SOS (each dose -0-0 months – 40mg, 4-11 months -80mg, 1-6 years 120-240 mg., 6-12 years 220-480mg. Max. 5 doses/24 hours.)
