Mupirocin 2% w/w Ointment

Mupirocin is used in the treatment of various skin infections (Impetigo). It is antibiotic medicine and can prevent the growth of bacterial function. Before using this medicine read the complete information provided by leaflet of the product. This medicine should be used for the treatment of skin only.

Wash your hands before using this medicine. Apply small amount of ointment at clean and affected area 3 times a day and gently rub as per direction given by doctor. Length of treatment is depends on the infection type. It should be use regularly to get more benefit. Wash your hands after application and cover affected area with a bandage. Use regularly at the same time until prescription is finished. Do not stop applying even if symptoms disappear, it can return the infection again. Do not apply this medicine at the sensitive parts of the body as mouth, nose, eyes or private parts.

Side Effects

Mild burning, irritation, rash, itching, dizziness or stinging may occur. This medicine can cause intestinal condition due to resistance of bacteria. Inform your doctor immediately, if you feel any of the given side effects. Remember your doctor has prescribed this medicine because he judged that benefits of this medicine are more than the risk of side effects. Many patients are not feeling any side effects while using this medication. Tell your doctor right away if you feel any sign of allergic reaction such as abdominal pain, diarrhea or blood in stool. Do not use any narcotic or anti diarrhea medicine because it can make situation worse.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any allergies or if you have allergies to any inactive ingredients. Inform your doctor about your medical history such as any type of kidney disease you have or having any surgery. Use this drug during pregnancy only when needed and consult the doctor before breast feeding.
