Telmisartan 40 mg+ Hydrochlorthaizide 12.5 mg

This medicine is used in the treatment of hypertension and high blood pressure. It helps to lower high blood pressure and prevents heart attacks and kidney problems. It is combination of two medicines, where Telmisartan act as angiotensin receptor blocker and Hydrochlorothiazide used for relaxing blood vessels; it increases the amount of urine in body. They work both in combination to relax blood vessels and flow more easily. Generally the combination of this medicine is used when single drug cannot control your blood pressure.

Read the complete detail of product leaflet from your doctor or chemist before start taking this medicine. Take this medicine as per direction given by doctor; usually taken by mouth once a daily. Take it with or without food as suggested by doctor. Dosage of this medicine is decided by doctor based on medical history and condition. If you are taking any medicine for lowering cholesterol then take this medicine at least 4 to 5 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after taking that medicine. Try to take at same time every day or evenly spaced times for best result. Complete prescription period, even if you find symptoms are disappear.

Side Effects

Following side effect may occur with the use of given medications

Headache, rash, tiredness, swelling, dizziness or diarrhea may occur. Inform your doctor immediately, if you feel any of the given side effects worsen. Your doctor has prescribed this medicine because he judged that benefits of this medicine are more than the risk of side effects. Many patients are not feeling any side effects while using this medication. Tell your doctor right away if you observe any new sign of side effects such as dehydration, weakness, irregular heartbeat, fainting, chest and eye pain, kidney problem, dizziness or breathing trouble.

Precautions

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any allergies of either telmisartan or hydrochlorothiazide or if you have allergies to any inactive ingredients. If you have medical history of liver disease, hyperkalemia, diarrhea, heart diseases, vomiting or dehydration then informs your doctor or pharmacist. Drink enough fluids to prevent dehydration. It can also cause a condition of dizziness or blur vision so do not drive or do any activity that requires attention or alertness. It can increase potassium level in body so consult your doctor before using potassium supplement or salt substitutes. Children and older people are more sensitive to this medicine. Before having surgery inform your doctor about all the medicine, you are taking. This medicine can also affect your blood sugar level so if you are diabetic then regularly check your blood sugar. This medicine is sensitive towards sun so limit your exposure to sun and wear full protective clothes and use sunscreen lotion. Use this drug during pregnancy only when needed and consult the doctor before breast feeding.
